Positive results of the NDIS reform
Quarterly report highlights the positive impact of NDIS participation on people with disabilities. Among long-term participants, 80% report greater choice and control in their lives, and social participation has increased from 35% to 43%. Employment rates for young participants (ages 15-24) have more than doubled from 10% to 23%. Additionally, the diversity of new participants reflects broader inclusivity, with 9.7% identifying as First Nations peoples, 7% from culturally diverse backgrounds, and 2% from remote areas.
To enhance participant experience, the NDIA has expanded its frontline workforce, adding 800 new staff to improve service delivery and reduce wait times. Over 15,000 participants have been helped to transition to safer service providers. Key initiatives this quarter include the launch of the co-developed NDIS First Nations Strategy and additional funding to develop a workforce for strengths-based assessments, ensuring fairer, more consistent participant support
